FAQs
This page provide simple answers to common question.
What is a Computer Virus?
A computer virus is a program which
can copy itself or infect a computer without the user's knowledge or
permission. The virus can cause all manner of problems with your
computer, including making your computer run slowly, damaging data or
rendering a computer unusable.
What is Spyware?
Spyware
is computer software which gets installed without the user's
knowledge or permission and will intercept or take partial control over
the user's interaction with the computer. The worst kind is a
key-logger which monitors a user's key strokes and sends the data to a
remote site. This could be used to steal your online bank
account
login details or access to your personal email, amongst other things.
Why has my computer become so slow?Though
a slow computer can mean you may have a virus or spyware it might be a
less worrying reason. Computers need a little TLC just like a car or
motorcycle. You should run the check disk at least every 6
months particular if the PC has crashed. Another reason may be that
your files have become very fragmented, you should do this especially
if you are creating or deleting lots of files. With Windows Vista this
is now automatically done for you but not with Windows XP. |
